This series started with a fascination of the artist practice, and all the behind the scenes ideas and logistics that go into creating a work. It turned into a 3 part documentary film about fellow artist Michael Bernard Stevenson Jr. who’s art practice is entirely social, and many of his works are creating food events or gatherings. The work becomes larger then himself in many ways, and it seemed fitting to document all of his preparations for multiple events/works over the past 5 years.
When Sustenance & Spectacle ended, I began to turn my camera unto anyone who would let me pry into their lives and moving away from the documentary form, create a biographical art piece. Secret Spot is about a long hike between myself and a local towns member who shared with me her favorite parts of her property, and the local flora and fauna she surrounds herself with.
